To Silence

To Silence – blessed break from speech
And sounds that are beyond my reach
To the end of scrape and screech

To Silence – of the engines blast
And sirens clamor as they pass
To squelch alarms for sleep at last

To Silence – in my troubled dreams
And from my minds own fretful screams
To let my conscious be redeemed

To Silence – in the final sleep
Let no one come and no one weep
To Silence – my reward be reaped

To Vincent

To Vincent … who will never know
The love I feel and cannot show
Of kaleidoscopes on linen snow

To Vincent … shaded as a fool
Whose isolation fractured rules
With genius crowned delusional

To Vincent … socially denied
Whose brilliance is immortalized
By majesty viewed through his eyes

To Vincent… dubbed an albatross
Who dwelled in dreams of splendor lost
Whose vision held a fatal cost

To Vincent … bathed in spectral light
Whose palette moved him to vast heights
Whose epic is A Starry Night

To Love

To love … I give my heart and soul
In places where I lose control
That space in life that leaves me whole
To love … I give my energy
My hopes, my dreams, my destiny
It sets me free in fantasy
To love … my broken heart is yours
Those times when you have closed the doors
To happiness that was in store
To love … whose virtues I’ll defend
As seasons change and heartache ends
I know I’ll live to love again

To Death

To Death… A toast in tainted wine
Let glasses ring its somber chime
As shadows cast its name in black
To Death we walk… with no path back

To Death… whose fame has spanned the ages
Only love has penned more pages
Only time outlives its quill
To Death … To Death ‘till all is still

To Death… and to its secret kept
While all that live have stood and wept
To Death… and to its final kiss
I give a life… I shall not miss

The First Letter

Evergreen the forest
Dewdrops quenching earth
God painting sunrise
A spring of life’s
Rebirth

A season passes quickly
Lessons learned in time
Letting all the grapes fall
Ever from the vine
Nevermore as wine

Poetry in motion
On this page of snow
Evidence will show

To Edgar

To Edgar - whom I love in verse
Whose soul has met a desperate curse
Never to know his life's own worth

To Edgar - whom I've longed to meet
Whose purpose left him incomplete
Whose very hand spelled out defeat

To Edgar - who has come to fame
Yet while he walked - it was in shame
A haunted life - but not in vain

To Edgar - whose shadow falls on my floor
Whose unseen hands tap on my door
Whose pen shall move....ah....NEVERMORE

And my soul from out that shadow...
that lies floating on the floor...
shall be lifted... nevermore"
